Even as summer winds downs, there are plenty of warm days ahead. Here are some Do’s and Don’t’s to remember when moving in the heat!

DO: Leave the heavy lifting to us – we’ve been moving large and bulky items for years and know the best ways to do so without getting hurt. Make sure you stay hydrated, wear sun protection, and loose fitting clothing to prevent sunburn. Pack your perishable food items in a cooler bag or chest and keep them inside your home as long as possible. Defrost your fridge/freezer before the move to prevent flooding while in transit. Protect your electronics from heat and sun exposure by storing them in an air-conditioned space such as your car.

DON’T: Leave pets or children unattended in vehicles during your move – the heat can be fatal in minutes! Don’t pack your plants – bring them into a cool place, and don’t water them right before the move as the water adds weight and can cause leaks. Don’t work without frequent breaks and proper hydration – that means you, your kids and your pets, too!
