While we’d all like to have sunshine and warm breezes on moving day, if inclement weather is in your move forecast, don’t despair. With just a little forethought, you can keep yourself, your movers and your belongings safe. If there is snow or ice accumulation, make sure you clear it from walkways, paths and steps at both your current location and your new home. Shovel as much as you can and then lay down a layer of salt melt. If you have a driveway, try to park your vehicles away from it, then shovel and salt that as well. While the movers are carrying your belongings, continue to check and clear outdoor surfaces as the movement of many feet can turn snow into slush. And to keep the insides of your homes safe, lay down moving mats or old cardboard boxes to keep the snow and salt from being tracked through.
