Moving can be a big deal. But you can make a big move better if you focus on the small details. Get organized weeks before, and make a checklist of all the little things that have to be done – and keep that list at your fingertips. Dressing in layers will help keep you warm when you’re outside, but still allow you to shed a layer or two when you’re inside. Make sure your utilities are turned on at your new house before you arrive. Shovel and clear pathways before you start to move to minimize the chance of slipping. Gather some old carpet samples to place on floors and walkways to provide traction and protect your floors. And don’t forget snacks and warm beverages – you’ll need the energy during moving day, and everyone will appreciate some hot cocoa or warmed apple cider on a cold day.
